The Forbidden City
The Forbidden City was built during the years 1406- 1420 by over one million Chinese people with very expensive products and materials such as blocks of marble and rare Phoebe zhennan trees. The City is very big, covering 180 acres, with courtyards and over 8000 rooms! The purpose of it was to protect the emperor and his/her family.

The film "The Last Emperor" was actually filmed inside the Forbidden City.

Approximately 1000,000 artisans and craftsmen worked on building the Forbidden City.
